Sliding & Patio Door Installation
We are a repair company first, which means we only recommend a new door when the old one genuinely cannot be saved. When it cannot, we would rather install it ourselves than hand you to someone else.
What we install
Standard two- and three-panel patio sliders, four-panel and multi-slide systems, and pocket doors that disappear into the wall cavity. Vinyl, aluminium, and clad frames.
For most San Diego homes a well-specified vinyl or thermally broken aluminium slider is the right answer. Full-width multi-slide systems are genuinely impressive and genuinely expensive, and they need the header structure to support them — we will tell you honestly whether your opening can take one.
How the job runs
Measurement comes first, and it is not a formality. The rough opening is measured at three heights and three widths, the diagonals are checked for racking, and the sill is inspected for existing water damage. A door ordered to a nominal size will not fit a real opening.
On installation day the old unit comes out, the opening is inspected and made good, the new frame is set plumb and square on a properly bedded sill, and the panels are hung and adjusted. We flash and seal the perimeter before trim goes back. The old door leaves with us.
The part most installers skip
Waterproofing at the sill is where sliding door installations fail, and it is invisible once the trim is on. A pan flashing under the sill, correctly lapped, is what stops water that gets past the track from reaching the framing.
It adds an hour to the job. Doors installed without it are the ones we get called back to five years later with rotted subfloor — and at that point the repair costs more than the door did.
Timing and cost
Standard patio doors are usually ordered and installed within two to three weeks. Multi-slide and custom sizes run longer, typically four to eight weeks from order.
Installation is quoted after measurement. It depends on the system, the condition of the opening, and whether any structural or waterproofing remediation is needed — all of which we identify before you commit, not after.

Questions
New installation — common questions
How long does sliding door installation take?
A standard replacement into an existing opening is typically a one-day job. Multi-slide systems, or openings needing structural or waterproofing repair, run to two days or more.
Do I need a permit to replace a sliding glass door?
For a like-for-like replacement into an existing opening, usually not. If the opening is being enlarged or the header altered, a permit is required. We will tell you which situation you are in before work starts.
Should I replace my door or repair it?
Repair, if the frame is square and sound — which is most of the time. Replacement makes sense when the frame is rotted or corroded through, the opening has racked beyond adjustment, or you want a system the existing frame cannot provide, such as a full-width multi-slide.
Do you remove and dispose of the old door?
Yes, on the same visit, at no extra charge. It goes on the truck when we leave.
