Pocket & Closet Door Repair
Interior sliders hang from a top track rather than rolling on a bottom one, and when a hanger fails the door either jams solid or disappears into the wall. Both are fixable without demolishing the wall.
Pocket doors
A pocket door hangs from two roller carriages running in an overhead track inside a hollow stud cavity. The common failures are a carriage that has jumped the track, worn nylon wheels, a bent track, or the door binding against the split studs of the pocket frame.
Access is the real work. Some systems allow the door to be removed through the opening; others need a section of drywall or the door casing removed. We open the minimum required, and we patch what we opened — you are not left with a hole and a recommendation to call a drywaller.
Sliding closet doors
Bypass and mirrored closet doors are lighter but fail more often, because the bottom guide takes abuse and the top hangers are usually thin stamped steel.
Mirrored doors deserve particular care. The mirror is normally not tempered, it is heavy, and a door that has come off its hanger is a genuine hazard in a bedroom. If a mirrored closet door is loose or hanging, leave it and call.
What we replace
Roller carriages and hangers, overhead track sections, bottom guides, soft-close dampers, and the jump-stops that keep a carriage in its track. Where a proprietary system is obsolete we fit a modern equivalent track and hardware to the same opening.
On heavier doors we recommend upgrading to ball-bearing carriages, which are quieter and carry the weight without the flat-spotting that kills nylon wheels.
Cost
Closet door hardware repairs are typically $120 to $240. Pocket doors run higher — usually $220 to $520 — because of access, and more where a track section needs replacing inside the wall.
We quote after seeing it. Pocket door quotes given over the phone are guesses, because until the door is out nobody knows whether the track is bent or just dirty.

Questions
Pocket & closet doors — common questions
My pocket door is stuck inside the wall. Can it be fixed without opening the wall?
Sometimes. If a carriage has simply jumped its track it can often be reseated through the opening. If the track is bent or a hanger has broken, access is needed — but that usually means removing the casing rather than cutting the wall.
Do you repair mirrored closet doors?
Yes, including hangers, tracks and bottom guides. If the mirror itself is cracked we replace the panel, and we will always recommend a safety-backed mirror on a bedroom closet door.
Why does my closet door keep coming off its track?
Almost always the bottom guide. It is a small plastic part in the floor that keeps the door's lower edge in line, and once it wears or breaks the door swings out at the base and lifts a hanger off the track.
Can you add soft-close to an existing pocket door?
On most modern track systems, yes — a damper unit fits to the track and catches the carriage. Older proprietary tracks sometimes need the track replaced to accept one.
